Casio introduces 2D to 3D photo conversion service

Basically, it turns photographs into 3D photo sculptures … creating a very weird effect …

From Gizmodo:

Casio didn’t announce much at CES this year, but they are showing off a crazy 2D to 3D conversion service with results that literally make your photos leap off the page. They’re still putting out feelers as to whether or not consumers would actually want photos of their dog, cat, or even vacation shots converted to extruded 3D sculptures.

Our Gems Matt, Mark and James join the #makeitcount campaign.

Nike+ wants to motivate the masses in 2012, and has launched an already-viral campaign using the #makeitcount hashtag, asking us all: “How will you make it count in 2012?” Nike also launched their twitter and instagram accounts, encouraging fellow users to use the hashtag to announce how they’re making it count in 2012. The campaign will also pass the account around to different photographers, starting with Instagram fav 13thWitness.

Our Gems Carrie Powell + Ross Taylor take part in #makeitcount

Nike has launched a new campaign urging the public to ‘make it count’ and reveal their personal pledges on Twitter.

Created by Wieden + Kennedy London and AKQA, the campaign features athletes such as Mark Cavendish and Paula Radclliffe.

The posters which have been released as part of the campaign each feature an image of the athlete training, with their pledge written across the image. Each athlete’s Twitter handle and the hashtag #makeitcount are included at the bottom of the poster. The photos were taken by Adam Hinton.

Several videos have also been created for the campaign, with Mo Farah and Rio Ferdinand both featuring.

As well as the public being able to tweet their pledges, shoppers can be photographed at Nike’s flagship London stores in Westfield Stratford City and Oxford Street with their handwritten pledges. These photos will then be displayed in store.

The Fundacion Padre Hurtado Campaign is Revealing

http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fundacion-padre-hurtado-campaign

Children can easily become caged by their social circumstances as the Fundacion Padre Hurtado campaign sadly shows. They are often at the mercy of their guardians’ lifestyles since they either don’t have the courage to seek help or, more likely, don’t understand that life could be any different. Through this foundation, however, that could all change.

Executed by Prolam Y&R, an ad agency based in Santiago, Chile, the Fundacion Padre Hurtado campaign portrays these mistreated children as being caged by their circumstances. Although each image looks like a hopeless case, the ad states simply, “You’re the key,” implying that with a person’s help, they can free these children and others like them from their unfortunate confines.

The Fundacion Padre Hurtado campaign was art directed by Sergio Araya.

Saatchi & Saatchi - Toyota Yaris “Rapper” Campaign

Toyota Yaris and Saatchi & Saatchi outsmart life with personalised ‘shout out’ social media campaign

Toyota Yaris and Saatchi & Saatchi are offering the public a ground-breaking opportunity to outsmart life by creating their own exclusive pop video, in the next social media activity of the Outsmart Life campaign.

Consumers will be given the unique opportunity to have a personalised ‘shout out’ pop video created for them by the rapper Gadget and Slick the puppet, stars of the hit Toyota Yaris campaign, launched in August 2011. The duo will be taking submissions from the public on their daily annoyances and frustrations from 5 January. From 12 January, Gadget and Slick will write, perform and film a personalised response to the best answers that will be sent directly to the entrant and broadcast on Facebook and Youtube. Submissions will be received via Toyota’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/toyotauk or the Twitter hash tag #outsmartlive.

The ‘shout out’ campaign, created by lead creative and strategic agency Saatchi & Saatchi, follows the enormous success of Toyota Yaris’ pop video-inspired TV ads, Monster Truck, Gadget Guy and Hungry Girlfriend, first launched in August 2011. You can see the ads here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-DYmVs3PNE.

The ‘shout out’ is an extension of the Outsmart Life campaign, which promoted the dynamic and smart personality of the all new Yaris. Created to develop a deeper relationship with a younger target audience, the campaign provides a platform for consumers to become more involved with the brand using social channels and personalised content.

Andy Jex, Creative Director, Saatchi & Saatchi said: “They say never work with kids and animals - surely puppets and cartoons are up there too? It’s a daunting and exciting proposition. Hopefully Gadget and Slick have enough ability to pull it off. If they do, they can expect a call from messrs Henson and Pixar.”

Lisa Fielden, Brand and Digital Marketing Manager at Toyota said: “The ‘Gadget Guy’ TV creative has been a big hit for the all new Yaris, and has made an impact in the conversations of our target audience. The shout out campaign takes this a step further, giving them a great piece of content that is both fun and sharable, while reinforcing the clever and pioneering features of the all new Yaris.

Heineken QR Stickers -

Heineken introduced its new brand message ‘Open Your World’ at this year’s Heineken Open’er Music Festival in Gdynia, Poland. Agency Leo Burnett created the Heineken U-Code, a QR Code sticker that carried the users personal message and anyone attending the festival could make one in the specially constructed Heineken digital tent. It transpired that creating and scanning a U-Code was a great excuse for people to approach someone new and make friends at the festival.
